Product Description

The Flex 1.5 is an extremely lightweight, robust and versatile closed-cell foam mat for trekking, bikepacking or camping. It is suitable for use on its own for three-season use or as an additional layer of insulation and protection beneath an inflatable mat.

The R-value of 1.7 provides reliable basic insulation whilst also protecting against sharp surfaces. The foldable design allows for quick deployment. The high-quality IXPE foam is particularly durable, water-resistant and retains its shape well.

R-value is a measure of thermal resistance. It indicates the efficiency of insulation by measuring its resistance to heat transfer. The higher the number, the slower the rate of heat transfer through an insulation.

In EXPED sleeping mats, higher R-values help sleepers retain the heat their bodies generate and the result is the pleasant and sometimes elusive condition called warmth.

Good to know: ISO-rated sleeping bags are tested with 7R mats. EXPED recommends using a sleeping mat with an R-Value of at least 6.5 or higher to ensure your sleeping bag provides the warmth it is rated for.
